GEV Emicode

With the encouragement of companies such as STAUF, the Association for the Control of Emissions in Products for Flooring Installation (GEV) was established in 1997. The organization developed a product classification system called EMICODE, a simple and reliable guideline classifying the emission behavior of building products in order to protect consumers and the environment.

Today, EMICODE ratings have become the standard throughout the environmentally demanding European business community. Flooring installation materials labeled with EMICODE EC1 “very low emission” offer the greatest possible safety standards for indoor air pollution.

In fact, EMICODE EC1 is supported by the German Ministry for the Environment, and is recognized in the flooring products industry for having the most strenuous international environmental standards for GREEN designation related to the control of emissions.

More information on the environmental standards upon which STAUF designs its products can be found at www.emicode.com.
